The weather we cannot help, but how could it be improved otherwise? Could of been prepared better for weather, there should of been water available at all functions. A few ice chests, some ice, and a dozen or so cases of bottled water would of made a big difference. Also, the photographer could of been better prepared, too much confusion, the panoramic should of been taken first, then if individuals wanted their cars photograhed it would of been on a choice basis.

How could it be improved? Autocross should of started first thing in the morning! As it was starting a 2:30 PM was too late, and too hot, glad we decided to do the Hood River Train ride instead.

How could it be improved? This was a great rally. The fact that is was somewhat easy made it more fun. Was able to enjoy the beautiful countryside instead of stressing out on getting to the next place in a hurry. I rate this as one of the best rallys I have ever been on.

Many of the Minis ran to the site solo or in tiny groups, think Mini maps to the site and getting together on the Washington side to travel as a pack would have been better. Was a bit chaotic think identifying a leader and having someone in charge at the site before everyone else would have helped some of the confusion.

You folks did a great job, as I expected. Given the close proximity to your home town, I would expect a few more details to have been sorted,eg; autcross/funkana site, the large lot next door sat empty due to lack of wind. A contingency plan would have been nice. Also, better instructions and signage to Stone Henge would have had more people in the picture.
The hotel was great and we ate most of our meals in the restaurant, good food at reasonable prices.
In reference to Q15 above I think a resort is best but it should be close to a town/city. This provides alternative activities and dining options that sometimes are lacking at a remote or stand alone resort.
Overall it will be recorded as one of the best in MMW chronicles

I really hate to be critical, I know how hard you all worked to put on this very
good meet. Having said that, I think there were a few instances when lack of sufficient
organization detracted from the event. There seemed to be some confusion at the
Show n Shine as to how and where to park entrant's cars. The field appeared to be

Overall we had a great time and will come again. What might help next time is getting some school, Boy or Girl Scouts or organization raising money for their cause to take over the concessions. Let them supply the food and drinks and sell them at the different venues and events. That way there are things right at the event to eat and drink, which will keep people there, and it will also let some group earn some money.

A very good meet. I’m glad I decided to through caution to the wind and take the time and money I didn’t really have and make the trek. I was not disappointed. Excellent hotel, fabulous location, right choice of dates, logical schedule of events; everything was very well done.

No complaints about the online registration, but then the wife took care of that.
Check in Monday evening was a little slow as the only line was slowed up with onsite
registrants asking many questions. Recommend one line for onsite and one line for
check-

The hotel was very good. Good amenities and spacious rooms. Unlike many other hotels, I never once heard other people’s doors slamming. Due to reserving late, we were “stuck” with a riverside room; this was a blessing as it made it really easy to just open the slider and let the girls play outside. Price was very reasonable, especially with the nearly equal Canuck Buck. Location was very nice with the bare necessities (gas, coffee, McD) across the parking lot; anything more was only a 10 minute drive. Worst thing would have to be the hotel restaurant: very good food but slow service.
4) How was the Show & Shine (Concours)? ___4__
While many people are traditionalists and expect a judged concours, the people’s choice voting made things simple for entrants and organizers alike. A good number of classes meant no one class was too huge. Location was fabulous, lush grass and the water made things bearable despite the heat. Shade and bathrooms right nearby, lunch was great (see rallye). Placement of the cars needed work: There was no clearly defined entry area and I had to ask around to find someone to point me in the right direction. Once I did find the person, point was about all they did; there was nobody else on the field to help me zero in on the correct location to park. Perhaps when registering, have classes listed and allow entrants to indicate their choice. This would allow organizers to better prepare enough space for each class.
5) How was the Funkhana? ____3_
Two words: TOO LONG. I heard it started late and some things were trimmed because each run was taking too much time. Overall, things just took a long time and as a result, most people probably only got one run. A funkhana (and autocross for that matter) is as much spectator sport as a participant sport. The Mini jigsaw puzzle seen at other meets is fun to do but boring to watch and takes too long. If the wait is too long, people are reluctant to queue up because they miss any action while waiting endlessly in line. Keep it fun for both participants and spectators and keep it moving, an average run should be no more than about 90 seconds. That said, I still had a great time.
6) How was the Stonehenge tour? ___2__
If it was an optional tour it would have been fine; it was a nice (although very hot) drive to an interesting site. As a group photo it didn’t work very well. The poor directions caused many to turn around and miss out on the photo. After arriving, the 2 hour wait for the individual shots was made barely survivable by the minimal shade (had there been none, you would have had a riot). Better to have the photo taken at or nearby the concours site to avoid people and Minis dropping like flies trying to find some far away place. It would have also helped if there was some advance notice as to how long the tour and photo session was going to be, so we could be more prepared.
7) How was the Autocross? ___3__
Too late getting started due to reworking the course because of safety issues. I am not a regular autocrosser and I saw problems immediately on paper, why did no one else? Only one driveway in and out of the lot caused congestion but quick run times kept lines moving at a good pace. The air conditioned viewing area was a life saving blessing: run inside for a few minutes and you’re all refreshed. How did you ever swing that?

Good room and great food. Banquet and ALL awards at the end of the meet brings closure to everything; excellent planning there. The pics from the meet cycling through on the overhead were nice to fill time. Pizza party for the monkeys allowed them to have a good time with other kids without disrupting the “grown–up” stuff. Some speakers/presenters were not prepared and/or did not have the proper information. Awards should be presented lowest to highest: slowest to fastest times, mundane (photo/model) awards to Eric Lindquist. Rallye and funkhana should have two trophies; driver and navigator are equal participants yet are often not from the same household. Best improvement to be made: have pics of the winning cars come up as owner’s name is announced; helps us put a name and a face to the car that beat you.
10) What other events would you suggest?
Perhaps simple events for the kids, colouring or painting contest to be judged at banquet. Another idea might be some organized fun time at or near the hotel for the (mostly) wives and kids who don’t want to sit in the hot sun watching the autocross.
11) Best part of the Meet?
I think you’re reading it. We all like to think that we’ve put on the best meet ever but there are always things that can be improved next time. The fact that you want to hear about what worked and what didn’t makes this a great meet because it will help make the next one even better.
12) Worst part of the Meet?
Directions, or complete lack thereof. While the programme had maps for the concours, group photo and autocross, they only conveyed general direction. It was trial and error to find these locations, specific instructions were needed. The photo shoot appeared to have directions to the wrong location; many Minis turned around and went back. Simple signs stapled to posts along the way would have been a big help.

Definitely mid week. While weekend meets will bring in more locals, the idea of
Mini Meet is to have others travel to you. Mid-

A mid week event allows 3 days on either end to travel with a 3 day meet in the middle. If the meet is 4 days, anything on the 4th day should be “optional”.

Almost anything but a city setting would be great. Scenery around you is relaxing but amenities need to be reasonably nearby. Nobody wants to be stuck in downtown traffic at a Mini Meet; that’s what I’m trying to get away from.

I really enjoyed the slot car racing in the hospitality suite. It was simple enough for the kids and challenging enough for the adults. The qualifying for finals kept people coming back to check on what’s happening.
